Permissions

Currently, I have sorted out the following for my final photoshoot: the equipment and props I will most likely need, where I would like to shoot, and the members of my cast and crew. Yet, I am still missing a crucial aspect that I need to plan—where and how I will grant permission for my interview...a significant part of my photoshoot! In fact, since I will interview and photograph a chef at an Asian restaurant as part of my final photoshoot, I need to ask for permission to ensure that these plans can truly be achieved.

Originally, I planned to contact my restaurant via Gmail as I thought it would be the easiest communication method. However, after finding the restaurant's Instagram account and discovering that they have been posting recently, I decided to contact them through Instagram's Direct Messaging (DM) feature. After all, as they were repeatedly active on Instagram at the time, I thought that there would be a high chance of them responding to my message rather than if I were to contact them via email, in which I would have been less likely to receive a response.

Hi, my name is Shira! I am currently a student at Don Soffer Aventura High School taking AICE Media Studies, which involves creating a magazine that includes an article and photos we have taken throughout the course. I decided to choose the cooking genre for my magazine and will specifically focus on Asian cuisine. As my parents have dined in your restaurant and given great reviews stating how much they loved the food, I would love to interview and photograph one of your chefs (preferably one of the sushi chefs) to include in my magazine. Please let me know as soon as possible if I can do this! I look forward to hearing back from you! Thank you!

Hopefully, they will quickly respond back to me, so I can decide whether or not I need to consider contacting another restaurant! Yet, I have already decided on a small backup plan, which is outlined below.
