After revising the second drafts of my cover and table of contents, the last step in producing my final magazine was revising my article! During this process, I applied all of the knowledge I obtained throughout this course, whether it was about codes, conventions, or navigating Adobe programs. Therefore, I believe that my article was of higher quality than my cover and table of contents. The comparisons between my first draft and final article are outlined below.
FIRST DRAFT V.S. Final COVER
First Draft

Final COVER

As I put in maximum effort and was satisfied with my first draft, I initially thought there were only a few ways to improve. However, upon further consideration and advice from my peers during my class critique, I not only noticed human error but also elements that could've been enhanced. Although slight, these changes made a significant positive difference in the overall look of my article. Therefore, after making these changes, I am glad to say that I am more satisfied with my final article than my first draft. Divided into categories, my main reason is as follows:
MAGAZINE ELEMENTS
From my first draft to my final cover, I added about 4 additional magazine elements, as described below.
ADDITIONAL PULL QUOTE: Outlined in a white background with a black stroke, the inclusion of a pull quote in the recipe acts as a cooking tip, making my recipe allow for more success. After all, the quote said by Chef Misayo acs as ethos since it adds credibility to the recipe.
CONCLUSION: One of my favorite parts of the article was the short conclusion at the end of page 45. As a more conventional approach to conclude the recipe, this conclusion considers a larger context and suggests further actions of what to do after making the dish.
FOOTER: Unlike my first draft, my final cover contains a footer, which consists of my magazine's name and issue date. I think this magazine element adds more realism to my article as almost every magazine I have read (either digital or print) contain footers!
ADDITIONAL HEADING: The additional heading, "Make it..." makes the step-by-step portion of the reipe more distinct from the ingredients. I believe that it also fits well with the other section as it is formatted with the same font, font color, white background, and thin black stroke. Therefore, the additional heading adds more meaning to the recipe while remaining consistent.
REFLECTION
As previously stated, out of my cover, table of contents spread, and article, I belive that my article was my favorite! Notably, it contained the most codes and conventions, which make the magazine more realistic and well-structured. While my first cover draft was also of high quality, it didn't uphold the same standard as my final article, which I was able to improve through several revisions. For instance, an additional pull quote, a conclusion, footer, and additional heading all act as additional magazine elements that either improve the legibility or appearance of my article.
